Resistance Int'l Filmfest announces people candidates

The 2018 edition of Resistance International Film Festival in Iran has announced people's choice semi-finalists.

According to a media report, people have voted online for their picks in different categories of best producer, best director, best screenplay, best actor/actress and best film among the 258 titles in competition in the festival.

The films that have been picked are 'Deportees', 'From Karkheh to Rhine', 'Standing in the Dust', 'The Glass Agency', 'Bodyguard', 'Chamran', 'Track 143', 'Leili is with Me', 'M for Mother' and 'Orphanage of Iran'.

Narges Abyar, Kioumars Pourahmad, Kamal Tabrizi, Ebrahim Hatamikia, Ahmad-Reza Darvish, Masoud Dehnamaki, Abolghasem Talebi, Mohammad-Hossein Latifi and Mohammad-Hossein Mahdavian have been selected as best directors.

People have also selected Parviz Parastoui, Hadi Hejazifar, Babak Hamidian, Amin Hayaee, Kambiz Dirbaz, Merila Zarei, late Khosrow Shakibaee, Akbar Abdi, Ali Nasiriyan and Aliram Nouraei as the candidates for best actor/actress category.

The selected screenplays have been written by Narges Abyar, Behzad Behzadpour, Kioumars Pourahmad, Ebrahim Hatamikia, Ahmad-Reza Darvish, Masoud Dehnamaki, Soheil Salimi, Abolghasem Talebi, Rasoul Mollagholipour and Mohammad-Hossein Mahdavian.

The finalized results of people's choice in each category will be announced on the opening ceremony of the film event on November 26. The festival will also grant a prize to three of the ones who have participated in the vote taking. 

The 15th edition of the event will be held in Vahdat Hall in Tehran and is to come to an end in Milad Tower in November 30, 2018.

The RIFF is dedicated to productions on wars and the repercussions of armed conflicts in the world.

It also puts a spotlight on the resistance of the Palestinian people against the Zionist regime, Daesh and their terrorist attacks in the region, and the world’s tyrants and their backing of Daesh.

The RIFF is being organized every year by the Revayat Cultural Foundation and the Film Association of the Islamic Revolution and the Sacred Defense in collaboration with other cultural organizations.
